Shelf Space Updates
Every week I like to take a look back and see what books I have
read, which books I have added to my TBR (to-be read) pile, and which books I
have tossed, i.e. decided I will unfortunately not have enough time in this
life to read. You’ll notice that this
last section will not appear very often, for two very important reasons. I LOATHE getting rid of books and absolutely
hate admitting that I can’t read them all.

Books Finished
Cress (Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer
In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain
Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together,
they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.
Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite
since childhood who’s only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen
time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received
orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

Tidewater Inn by Colleen Coble
Inheriting a beautiful old hotel on the Outer Banks could be a
dream come true for Libby. The inn cries out for her restorer’s talent and love
of history. She’s delighted to learn of the family she never knew she had. And
the handsome Coast Guard lieutenant she’s met there on the island could
definitely be the man of her dreams.
But Libby soon realizes that the only way she can afford the
upkeep on the inn is to sell it to developers who are stalking the island. The
father who willed her the inn has died before she could meet him, and her
newfound brother and sister are convinced she’s there to steal their
birthright. Worst of all, her best friend and business partner has been
kidnapped before her eyes, and Libby’s under suspicion for the crime.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved
Before by Jenny
Han
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who
has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter
about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. But one day
Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed,
causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters: her
first kiss, the boy from summer camp, even her sister’s ex-boyfriend, Josh. As
she learns to deal with her past loves face to face, Lara Jean discovers that
something good may come out of these letters after all.
Stolen Obsession by Marlene M. Bell
New York
antiquities appraiser Annalisse Drury recently lost her best friend to murder.
The killer’s identity may be linked to her friend’s expensive missing
bracelet—a 500-year-old artifact that carries an ancient curse, one that
unleashes evil upon any who dare wear the jewelry created for the Persian royal
family.
Weeks
later, Annalisse sees a matching necklace at a Manhattan gallery opening. She
begs the owner to destroy the cursed piece, but her pleas fall on deaf
ears—despite the unnatural death that occurs during the opening. With two
victims linked to the jewelry, Annalisse is certain she must act.
TBR Additions
I wish this list was exclusive, but I add so many books that would
be impossible. So, these are the ones I
added this week that I am most excited about.

By Her Side by Feina Merritt
At twenty years old I sat in a hospital room alone and I was told
my mum was so severely brain damaged that she would not have the ability to
wake up from her coma. The Doctors had to be wrong? I needed her, my father had
died, my mums partner had died, I couldn’t lose her to. I sat by her side every
day, talking, hoping and waiting for a sign that she was still my mum. She defied
the odds and woke up, however our fight was far from over. She was not the able
bodied, active business woman who walked into the hospital. She had no voice,
no movement and the Doctors said she was vegetative. Again I sat by her side
day after day and I refused to believe my beautiful mum was now a vegetable, I
set about proving them wrong.

Scotland—twin sister of the man who inspired the legendary character of Merlin.

Scotland—twin sister of the man who inspired the legendary character of Merlin.
Intelligent, passionate, rebellious, and brave, Languoreth is the
unforgettable heroine of The Lost Queen, a tale of conflicted loves and
survival set against the cinematic backdrop of ancient Scotland, a magical land
of myths and superstition inspired by the beauty of the natural world. One of
the most powerful early medieval queens in British history, Languoreth ruled at
a time of enormous disruption and bloodshed, when the burgeoning forces of
Christianity threatened to obliterate the ancient pagan beliefs and change her
way of life forever.

None this week, I have stayed strong and optimistic; however, my
TBR pile grew more than my read pile, so I am obviously losing this battle.
