Fans of The Phantom of the Opera and Black Swan will enjoy this thrilling debut.
When Megan Van Helsburg gets kicked off the U.S.A. Climbing Team, she has no choice but to return home and leave her climbing career behind. With no coach, no money, and no prospects, she joins the corps de ballet determined to improve her strength and agility. But the ballet theater is in dire straits. Not only do a series of murders break loose, but the ballerinas are becoming deathly thin and brain-dead. As Megan investigates, she meets Bellamy, a tortured young man who lives beneath the depths of the theater. Megan falls hard and fast for Bellamy, who becomes her mentor, but something is off about him.
It isn’t until the company announces they’re doing Giselle for the fall performance that Megan realizes the parallels between the ghost story and the lives around her. Megan must find a way to not only save her climbing career, but balance her feelings for Bellamy, and stop the murders and dying girls before she, too, is numbered among the dead.

My Thoughts
I went into this book thinking I knew how it would go, but I was so very, very wrong.
If this is the first book for Morgan Shamy, then her writing career will be long and extremely accomplished.
I am a devoted Phantom of the Opera girl, having seen it on Broadway and London, not to mention having watched the film version so many times that I can no longer count. Add that to my love for the twisted and beautiful tale of The Black Swan, and I wanted to read this book after reading the first sentence of the blurb.
The opening is in a word shocking. Seriously, huh? I did not see that coming. By opening her book that way, the readers were quick to learn that they needed to unlearn everything they thought they knew about this story. It’s not going to be what you thought it was going to be.
My favorite part was the tension. Morgan Shamy laid levels of tension throughout The Redpoint Crux, and built them on top of each other, almost compelling the reader to turn the page. How and when do you choose to stop reading?
I wasn’t sure how all of the relationships were going to resolve, because everyone’s stories crisscross so intricately that I almost couldn’t keep up. I seriosuly thought of making a chart at one point.
The imagery in The Redpoint Crux is beyond beautiful and haunting, while you can honestly feel the romance and mystery. Any YA fan would love to read this story.
