My Thoughts
When I read these types of books to my kids, I am so glad they are growing up in this type of environment. There weren’t books about body positivity when I was growing up, so I had to depend on body image lessons from my mother, who learned from her mother, who learned from her mother, and so on and so on. Thus the vicious cycle of children growing up believing the worst about themselves continued.
But now we have books like this that can help parents like me try to break this cycle with my kids.
My daughter loves anything ballet and my son loves anything to do with dragons, so the combination of these two things within one character should make this book interesting to a lot of children. The story and the pictures are sure to keep them interested as they learn a plethora of important lessons.
It’s ok to be different and everyone is different in some way.
It’s very important to keep trying for something you really want.
Not much in life will come easily, as most things especially achievements, require a lot of work a perseverance.
Love yourself.
If you’re thinking that’s a lot for one little book to say, you would be right, which is why Dragons Don’t Dance Ballet is a brilliant children’s book that my kids will read for years.
Thanks so much to Jennifer Carson and iRead Book Tours for my copy of Dragons Don’t Dance Ballet in exchange for an honest review.
