I like to think that I am pretty nice about my reviews. I enjoy books so much, that it’s a rarity that I really dislike something to the point that I can’t finish it. Apparently, I do have a limit, though, and this book is it. Before you read the rest, you should know that this book has an average of 4.25/5 stars on Goodreads, so this book might be entirely different in paper form.
To be fair, I am going to put up the synopsis, and tell you that if you are intrigued maybe you should give it a try, but only in print. I tried to listen to the audiobook version, and the narrator simply lost me. Not only did she make the heroine sound ditzy, but the male lead was so ridiculous that I couldn’t stomach it.
If you are reading a paranormal romance, the hook has to be in the male lead and the chemistry between the romantic interests. There was none in this book, or at least there wasn’t any in the book I was presented. The narrator made no attempt to make the voice of the male lead masculine, and the cockney accent she chose ruined any attractive quality the author may have written for him. I just couldn’t handle it.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? Does the narrator of any audiobook have any sort of impact on you?
Oh no! I'm so sorry you weren't impressed 🙁 It's always a bit of a gamble with audiobooks because you only get to see the narrators interpretation of it. I'm listening to The Faults in Our Stars and it's ok but a bit drag in places
I am seriously thinking about reading this book in a paper format. The story does sound interesting, and without the narrator, I might actually like this book!
Why not see if you can order a copy from your library? That way, if you still don't like it, you won't be out of pocket 🙂

I read and loved this book/series and this is why I am afraid to try audio. The voices and images in my head..add to the element of the books I read.
Exactly! It has such a high rating on goodreads that I am willing to give it another shot.
I will tell you that some of the audiobooks I have read exceeded my expectations. I will always recommend Phil Gigante. He has done all of Karen Marie Moning's books, and is amazing!
How sad, I very much love this series. I checked out the audio version once, but Bones's accent just sounded HORRIBLE and I couldn't even get through the sample.

Well, I have never read anything by the author and i don't even try audio books. I get so bored midway through that I just stop listening. Might pick this book up in paper form
