Murder is never far from this sexy couple . . . even during the holidays!
Their honeymoon abruptly ended by the untimely death of Alcott Howard, Clive and Henrietta return to Highbury, where Clive discovers all is not as it should be. Increasingly convinced that his father’s death was not an accident, Clive launches his own investigation, despite his mother’s belief that he has become “mentally disturbed” with grief. Henrietta eventually joins forces with Clive on their first real case, which becomes darker—and deadlier—than they imagined as they get closer to the truth behind Alcott’s troubled affairs.
Meanwhile, Henrietta’s sister, Elsie, begins, at Henrietta’s orchestration, to take classes at a women’s college—an attempt to evade her troubles and prevent any further romantic temptations. When she meets a bookish German custodian at the school, however, he challenges her to think for herself . . . even as she discovers some shocking secrets about his past life.

My Thoughts
Want to start off by saying that I really feel this book should be read after reading the other books in the series. I’m sure they could each be read separately, since there is definitely enough info given to make the book understandable, you really should read the series from beginning to end.
The audiobooks fly by, so don’t be scared about the commitment.
A Veil Removed is probably my favorite book of the series thus far for. many reasons. First of all, Henrietta is more secure in her life and not as unsure, therefore, she finds her strength and her voice to start to take control of the things and people around her. It’s so awesome to see her step up into this strong, confident woman.
Then there is Elsie. I mentioned in my review of book 3 that I wasn’t a huge fan of Elsie, and even less a fan of her paramour Stan. Well, Elsie finally got me interested. Her storyline gets interesting and mysterious while her backbone starts to straighten. Can’t wait to see where we find her in book 5.
As for the story itself, you couldn’t really ask for more. There’s romance, family drama, a murder mystery, missing money, and a mob boss stalker. The action doesn’t really stop and yet, i never felt like I was reading a break neck paced thriller. Still felt like a cozy mystery with a little bit of darkness.
not a fan of…
Honestly, there wasn’t much I didn’t like with A Veil Removed. Elsie still managed to annoy me at times, but she’s working on it and change doesn’t happen overnight. I’m hoping she continues to grow as a character. Maybe get Elsie
Thanks so much to Michelle Cox and iRead Book Tours for my copy of A Veil Removed in exchange for an honest review.
