In this edition of A Fortnight of Fright, we’re talking about all of our favorite Halloween reads! Read below, as I have listed some of my favs for Halloween and some I want to read but haven’t gotten to.

1. Bram Stoker’s Dracula – This is a spooky read and a classic for good reason.  I loved reading this last year, and I think everyone should devote a Halloween to reading it.  Lsat year I read it while waiting for trick-or-treaters.  I was into the Halloween spirit!!!

2. The Shining – I have not read The Shining not because I don’t think I should, but because I am scared to read it!  I mean, seriously, I watched the movie and it creeped me out so much, that I haven’t had the guts to pick up the book. Should I?

3. Anything James Patterson – This October, I am catching up on my James Patterson reading.  Mr. Patterson is always writing about blood, gore, murder and creepy people.  In my opinion, it’s the most Halloween inspired non-paranormal human activity imaginable.

4. The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield – This book is just engrossing.  It’s weird and eerie without being overtly scary.  The supernatural elements are intriguing.  It’s about a writer who gets wrapped up in a dark, haunted ruin of a house, which guards family secrets that are not hers and that she must discover at her peril.

5. Salem’s Lot by Stephen King – I haven’t read this either, but I am told this is required horror reading.  After reading some reviews, it seems that this is true, but I’m not sure. Would love some input!
