My Thoughts…
Sometimes romances, especially Nora Robert’s romances, can become formulaic. A couple meets, and obstacle to love develops, a kiss, a kiss that could become more but doesn’t, sex, another obstacle for the couple, then their HEA. It was really nice to see a relationship develop nicely and maturely without manufactured obstacles.
The villain, or should I say villains, weren’t exactly mysterious but they were all kinds of devious and evil. I really appreciate how well Nora Roberts can write the difference between hateful ignorance and a true sociopath. If you can’t tell by now, this book goes to some dark places with some terrible people.
The ending, without giving away spoilers was more than satisfying. It was great to see love, hope, and endurance play such a vital role in a novel.
What’s Missing…
If I don’t give a book the full five stars, I try to explain what I thought was missing. In this case, I just wasn’t as captivated by the story as I have been with her previous books. For instance, when I read Come Sundown, I wanted to be at the ranch.
